Hot off the press: our newest cookbooks!

Good morning fellow cooks!

I just unpacked and cataloged these four new books.  Get 'em while they're hot.  Two of them feature chefs and restaurant owners from Maine (I see more field trips in our future!).

For more information about each title, just click on the image of each book. That will lead you to the catalog entry for each title. Enjoy!

Jacques Pepin worked for HoJo's?!

I'm almost finished listening to the audio book of The French Chef in America: Julia Child's Second Act.
It's a wonderful follow up to Alex Prud'homme's first book about Julia, My Life in France.  If you haven't read either of these books yet, I highly recommend them.  They're perfect for for foodies and biography lovers.

I'm learning all kinds of juicy tidbits about Julia and her friends (Jacques Pepin was recruited to cook for Howard Johnson's in the early 60s.).  Who knew?!

Now I'm going to borrow a bunch of library DVDs of Julia's cooking shows!

New Cookbook club in the U.K.!

If you were at our March meeting, you may have chatted with two new club members, Olaf and Dom.  They live in Leeds, United Kingdom and were in Ipswich visiting family for a couple of weeks.

They took the time to cook and attend our meeting.  Then they went home and started their own Roundhay Cookbook Club.  Enjoy this photo of their first meeting (notice the nice touches absent from our club...the dog and bottles of wine)!  Olaf is on the far right.

Thanks to both of them and Linday Booy for sharing the photo.

Record attendance at March meeting!

We had 24 people at last week's meeting!  We even had guest members who live in the United Kingdom. (We hope Olaf and Blake will be able to join Cookbook club again when they next visit Ipswich).  Their Vermonster Chili and Maine Lobster Mac 'n Cheese were scrumptious!

Clothbound Cheddar Cheese Wafers & Sage Potatoes

Greek Eggplant Pudding
